quicksand
Malcolm, throughout chapters 5-8, seems to be free falling through life. Every move he makes is getting him caught deeper and deeper into the quicksand. He has become so addicted to drugs and can not find any real ways to make money other than hustle, he has lost the moral values the he once owned. With every drug he intakes or possession he steals, he just falls deeper and deeper into the quicksand. It seems that everyone is wanting him to be trapped as well, as even Shorty, who rescues him from Harlem, gets into Malcolm's burglary game when the move back to Boston. With no guidance from anybody, it is hard for Malcolm to stay afloat, and in-turn, not get captured into the quicksand.

hey connor (:
i like this blog post and the way you related malcolm's life to quicksand. it's really interesting :D he did fall into a lot of bad things such as drugs, hustling, and prostitution, but further chapters prove that he might change for the better. i think the Islam religion will help him see he can live a better life
the quicksand thing was pretty dumb. ur stupid

I like the idea of quicksand. I guess it does represent the way Malcolm is destroying himself and he is trying to squirm out of it but is getting sucked right back in. When he went to jail, he got the chance to really get out and not be affected by the peer pressure he had with his posse and his reputation. I really like how you got into Malcolm's shoes and you made me think that you were in the quicksand.
